Guide

How to publish price without commoditizing your work.

Six principles we built TrueQuote around. They hold whether or not you ever buy anything from us.

  1. 01

Accept that the research already happened

By the time a homeowner calls you, they have asked Google, asked an AI assistant, and looked at a big-box shelf price. The question is never whether they compare, only whether they compare with your input or without it.

  2. 02

Publish a range, never a bare number

A single published price invites a competitor to undercut it by a dollar. A range with stated bounds invites a conversation about what sits inside the range, which is the conversation you win.

  3. 03

    Label every reference you show

Store pricing, AI-collected data, national averages and manufacturer-suggested figures are all legitimate context, as long as each is labeled as what it is and never presented as your quote.

  4. 04

Put the basis of value beside the number

Licensing, insurance, warranty, training, workmanship, included scope, permits, disposal, service support and risk. There are 14 factors that separate two quotes, and a price shown alone communicates none of them.

  5. 05

Bound what any automation can do

If a tool can move your price, it will eventually move it somewhere you would not have gone. Set the permitted percentage and make the system incapable of exceeding it.

  6. 06

Always route to an exact quote

A range orients; an inspection prices. Make the next step unmistakable so transparency ends in a booked appointment rather than an abandoned tab.

  • AI search-result rangeWhat ChatGPT or Gemini answers when they ask.collected general data
  • National averageBroad market context, so a local number never looks arbitrary.
  • Manufacturer-suggestedEquipment-level reference. Manufacturers do not set installed price.

Bands are the live deployment’s real output for one configuration, shown for comparison shape. The lanes appear beside your range on your site, each labeled as what it is, never as your quote. Your live range always comes from your own pricebook.

Online pricing is a research range, not an exact or binding job quote. Final price depends on inspection, scope, site conditions, configuration, code, labor, materials, warranty, and the provider you select.
